The Nierengarten group is specialized in organic synthesis, coordination chemistry and supramolecular chemistry involving novel nano-scale building blocks. The design of new molecules, the understanding of their chemical and physical properties, and the development of new efficient synthetic routes allowing their preparation are at the center of our research. The various aspects of our research program are always highly synthesis-driven. The group has also successfully crossed interdisciplinary boundaries to pioneer new areas at the interfaces to biology and materials science, benefiting from strong international collaborative networks.
